Construction
The Chapel Of Our Lady Of
Guadalupe was founded on the need to accompany the growing community of Clio
AL. This process provided the community with tools to help them in their
families, social relationships and above all in their need to express their
love for God in conflict situations.
This community composed the
Mexican and other communities from Central America, most needed to feel
protected by God; to strengthen family relationships, ties of friendship, and
acquaintances and also to strengthen their work relations.

Under my charge also was overseeing
the construction with the architect and contractors. During this process I helped
to obtain the permits and materials needed for this ambitious project.
With several leading
families and extensive meetings we were able to create an action plan to raise
funds. Most outstanding in our
fundraising were the football tournaments, selling food, dancing and more.
The project was financed 50% percent by the Catholic Extension Program. I wrote the grant and they gave us $40,000. The community contributed another $30,000. The whole process gave them a deeper understanding of teamwork and a sense of belonging. The project lasted six months.
